Snark

So all of my hipster friends are now using the word "snark" or "snarky" as if it's some new urban slang term ala fashizzle my nizzle.
Poor poor hipsters.
I keep seeing this word pop on on blogs, hell even in the New York Times but the sad part is- it's been around since 1906.
It's British.
And it's quite often used in the wrong tense.
It's an adjective!
Look it up hipsters.
As the Polkaholics are fond of saying: Don't quit your day job.

Happy Tuesday!

Well I am hung over today but it was well worth it! For the second year in a row The Polkaholics® celebrated Dyngus Day at Stanley's Kitchen in Chicago and according to them we are doing it again next year as well- so mark that on your calendars now. I have to be honest I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout for a Monday night as there was a full house of drinking and dancing party people- any time we do the Chicken Dance 3 times in one evening and people are actually dancing to it, well what can I say? We had fun and look forward to doing it all again next year.
Thanks to Jonathan Stockton from Metromix for the great interview and to Eddie Blazonczyk for stoping by and to all of your that purchased CD's and t-shirts!!

EAT MEAT!

Now that Lent is over (I gave up Lent for Lent this year) as of Monday why not celebrate and eat some meat and drink copious amount of alcohol while dancing the the ohm-pa-pow sound of The Polkaholics?!
Second Year In a Row at Stanley’s  Kitchen & Tap
Monday April 17th - DYNGUS DAY - , 8pm
1970 N. Lincoln Ave (at Armitage)., Chicago, (312)  642-0007.
C’mon out and celebrate Dyngus Day with us at this super fun Lincoln Park eatery/bar.  What the heck is Dyngus Day?  You can read all about it here, but in short it’s kind of like the other side of Mardi Gras, or in other words, a GREAT reason to party and POLKA!!   This restaurant/bar has tremendous food, drinks, and atmosphere, and we'll be playing polka all nite long (til midnight or so) as we Dyngus away - definitely the most fun you could have on a Monday night!

In other news:
The Polka Train keeps rolling right along! We have shows booked all the way into 2007 so keep checking here and The Polkaholics® web page for the latest and greatest.

Simon Cowell, the "most pompous and egotistical" man on television has a new show, a hybrid of American Idol and The Gong show called America's Got Talent and they actually contacted us! We are taping for that on Friday night, so who knows maybe you'll see our smiling mugs on television this summer? Hey we've been on the European channels so now it's America's turn! Funny how a band from Chicago gets more press and cred in other states and even other countries? Oh well any press is good press and I am happy that people are interested in the wild and crazy eXtreme Polka world and want to say THANK YOU to all of those folks who have taken an interest in what we are doing...we are keeping polka alive!!

So about those upcoming shows, here are just a few:

April
Monday 17th - Dyngus Day at Stanley's starting at 8pm

May
Saturday 6th - Polish Parade in afternoon
Friday 26th - Lincoln Square Lanes with Ceann

June
Saturday 24 - Jeff Fest 2 to 3:30pm

We have a full Summer/Fall schedule that is not even listed here, and this New Years Eve we are planning something extra special! As you all know we've played a wild and crazy New Years Eve every year for the past 5 years- this New Years Eve promises to be EXTRA SPECIAL!

White Sox Opener

We played a private party on Sunday for the Chicago White Sox opener on the South side. The party itself was ok but I needed to have a party of my own, If you look above my head you an see the game on the TV. The White Sox won...after a 3 hour rain delay.
So this picture sums it up.
