Ramble that affordable Pony
It seems I owe yet another apology as I said that the Eric and Kathy show would be rebroadcast in it's entirety- well I had the tape recorder rolling on Tuesday nigh at 9:00pm and the only thing that was rebroadcast was Bill Kurtis reading "Twas The Night Before Christmas", and The Bare Naked Ladies.
No Polkaholics®.
Oh well- hey at least they asked us to perform for the 4th year in a row and we had a blast, and several people did listen and I have received some e-mails saying that we sounded great, and maybe we made some new fans. At the very least we got to do what we love to do and that is push the polka to the thousands of listeners on the airwaves, and for that I am very grateful, and I hope that they ask again next year.
New Years Eve Shows in Chicago are still a rip-off. Do you have this kind of money? Who has this kind of money? Certainly not me!! I did some checking today and so far we are still the best bet around. We are only charging $5 at the door and are giving away a brand new electric guitar. Think these other places are doing that? The only free thing you'll have is a hangover- no wait that has to be paid for as well!!
Hard Rock Cafe $160
New Year's at the Sound Bar $75
NY Lounge: New Year's Eve $75
New Year's Eve at Sauce $100
NYE 2005 at Zentra $80- just to get in the door!
News Year's Eve Party at Betty's Blue Star Lounge $75
New Year's Celebration at Level $125
The See And Be Scene Party 222 W. Ontario St $100
NYE at Hey Sushi 2630 N Clark $100
On another note I am always happy to give a shout out to friends bands and especially other Chicago bands and today's shout out goes out to Melissa Elias of the Pony's. You've come a long way from working in a cubicle Melissa!
I think that The Pony's may be the next big band out of Chicago- perhaps not Smashing Pumpkins or Urge Overkill big but they are making a name for themselves.
Not only have the played every state in the US except Alaska, Hawaii and Alabama- they have also played England, Belgium, Paris, and the Netherlands, and are going to Australia and Japan this spring. Way to go Melissa!
